As wars, political power games, the climate crisis, social inequality, digital overwhelm, rising right-wing pressure, and authoritarian tendencies shake the foundations of our world, the kind of future we long for – or once dreamed of – feels more distant than ever. What does belonging mean in a time when borders are being closed again, narratives are split apart, and realities are manipulated? How do we connect seemingly opposing elements – closeness and distance, hope and disillusionment, movement and stillness – that are, in truth, inseparable parts of a larger whole? We see people who live and work in cities – environments marked by motion, density, and encounters, yet often also by loneliness, disconnection, and emotional overload. Amid concrete and glass, advertisements, noise, and light, fundamental questions arise: What remains of us? How and where do we leave traces? And what stories are hidden within a fleeting moment? The exhibition comprises photographs and graphic works that are inseparably linked. The photographs, taken over years in different places, capture urban scenes and people in moments that seem incidental, yet reveal a quiet weight upon closer inspection. The graphic works pick up on these impressions and translate them into abstracted forms. Silhouettes, shadows, color spaces, and structures emerge – like visual echoes of emotion or the blurred outline of a memory. These distortions reflect not only the haziness of our inner images, but also the way external forces shape and alter our perception – the traces we leave behind, the memories that cling to us, and the quiet, often melancholic connections between us. Even – or especially – in the places where we feel like strangers.
