Close The Hole by @daniellamooney 02.04 & 03.04 18h - 21h (Readings at 18.30h) ‘Close the hole’, presents paintings and sculptural studies completed in the last two years by artist Daniella Mooney. Building on ongoing research into Landscape, this new body of work considers how geological we are, and the various entanglements to this becoming geological. The paintings view the strange layered connectivities of our material existence from a range of perspectives; from Lignite mines in North Western Germany, to landfill's, extremophiles, fridges, bog bodies, stone heads and volatile subterranean spaces. By arranging these elements together they explore what stories and histories are being collectively written into our geological stratum, and question how we figure into these cycles of mineralogical decay, extraction and slow petrification. Daniella Mooney is a sculptor, painter and amateur gardener born in South Africa currently based in Berlin. Their work loosely centres on subterranea and stone-time with a proclivity for general resourcefulness. The opening will also launch an artists’ book published by Hooops Collective, featuring essays by Berlin-based artists.
