Adulthood as seen from the perspective of my childhood years didn’t seem like a stage in life but more like a group of people from a different species, like zombies would be a different species. I was fascinated/repulsed by their sensible talk, their matter of factness, their responsibility, which I saw not as a series of chores but as an integral part of being adult. As a child, adults were alien to me, but at 44 I still cannot shake off that feeling. I am forever coming of age. Was adulthood a mirage?

In this Bat/Bar-Mitzvah-ish coming of age ceremony psychomagic ritual we will all graduate as a NEW adult so that we can continue being Peter Pan without carrying the dread and tremendous subconscious anxiety that one day we might finally grow up. We just get it over with, on paper
